Yesterday nite went to jw house for cny celebration. His mum is really hospitable to us, treating us to snacks, rockmelon and even ordered kfc for us! :D Haha, we also lao yusheng too, buying it from a coffeeshop and its "ingredients" really a lot! especially the thick fish slices! (better than rsphi, lol) This is the first time we lao together. The AI gang. heh :)

Of course, not to mention playing of blackjack and a bit of minor gambling. Normally every year, when i gamble with army friends during cny, sure lose de. :( But this time, different place, different players and with a different environment, for the first time ever, i actually won some $!! haha. Not a lot, but feels very good. :D hehee. Somemore, first time being a banker, and...thats when all the money came rolling in. (noticed that being a banker did have its advantages and disadvantages but its the fastest way to gamble away with ur luck, either winning a lot of money or losing a lot). As such, we decided to play another type of game, without a human banker but an "invisible" one. The game is called "In Between".

In-Between card game is played in the following manner: Everybody antes. Each player receives one card face-up, after which players, starting from the first player sitting to the left of the dealer, play their turns in the clockwise direction. Every player in his turn is dealt the second face-up card and is offered to bet on whether or not the next card from the top of the deck will numerically fall between the two cards he was dealt. The amount of the bet must be equal or lower than the size of the pot. Players can also decline betting. If the player bets and wins, he collects amount equal to his bet from the pot. If he loses he places his bet into the jackpot. If the third card matches one of two cards of the player, he not only loses his bet, but pays double to his bet into the pot. The game continues until someone wins the entire pot.

Its quite a simple game but thats where the climax came in. lol. Theortically, its a matter of probability of calculating how high ur chances are, but then as we played along, it doesnt really seem so. LUCK is the more determining factor, as we realised. Many a times, even when the chances of winning seem high or VERY high, we will usually cant resist the temptation to put a higher bet and . . . . .. .ended up, we lose to luck and pay double even! You should see the expression of us, shocks of disbelief. lol. This game is even more fun and interesting when there are people like yz who keep psychoing pple to put higher bets and ended up losing. As time goes by, the amount of money in jackpot keeps increasing to an incredible amount. At this stage, we will be also tempted to put an even higher bet to try to win back all the money u lost. Folks, thats where the golden rule of gambling came in:

***十赌九输 ah~***

HAha, after that, we changed our "strategy" a bit and we started to bet very small amounts. Not bad, we managed to get some money back. The funny thing is whenever we try to bet big again, luck seems to play pranks on us and cause us to lose. So we learnt the second golden rule of gambling now:

*** 要学会知足, 别贪心!***

LOL. :)))

Seriously. The after effects of bike rally. Its NOT the leg pain or butt pain, its the severe sunburnt thats killing me. Cant even sleep well at night. Even lying on my back on bed feels like a thousand needles poking into me. Argh. :(

I just discovered the 128 biking route - NTU bike rally 2010

What a hectic day. Previous night got "once in a blue moon" farrago big gathering for our batch with a surprisingly huge attendance of 12. Well, thanks to ssy for organising anyway. ( and i am still AMUSED at the reason he gave for organising this. lol. typical of him. haha.)

I just discovered the 128 biking route - NTU bike rally 2010

After that, rushed to jh house to stayover with kok and js. Luckily there is still transport to his house, else really need to sleep at ECP le! The funny thing is none of us managed to get a wink that night despite jh's best to gave us the best sleeping environment. HAha. either they are too excited about the coming bike rally or just dun feel easy sleeping at someone's house. Either way, its better than sleeping at ECP... Woke up at 5am and walked HALF HOUR over to the meeting point for registration. AND....everything that happens after...zz. In short, nothing went well???

Firstly, we were late by 22 mins when the flag off started. Just because of finding a toilet. :( And to make matters worse... everyone waited for us somemore. =_=' (so sorry!!) Not long after that, a serious accident happened to wj's friend too. Sianz. And kok and ys jokers too. MUST BE THey too excited or what. (after all its their first time in bike rally) One was like happily admiring the scenery and other is like looking at girls THAT they NEVER listen to instructions at all! Ended up we totally missed the first checkpoint! No choice and i had to follow them. In the end we rode from ECP ALL the way to NTU SRC!! (thanks ah....no break leh!!) And cause melvin and the gang to wait for us in vain at the first checkpoint. E111 and Andy too, for sillying and blindly following us too and missed their checkpoint too!! hahaha! ( Feel so sorry for them and yet also feel like laughing out loud) At this point. Its already about 40km travelled.

The journey to the reservoir did not turned out well. When i reached that checkpoint, kok and ys took a longer time than expected to reach. (something not right...) At this point, i was like hesitating whether to continue going with the rsphi gang or wait for these 2 and travel together. haiz. Seriously it will be a great difference between the 2 choices, in terms of travelling pace, experience and ... "entertainment". And my motives too. :\ Well, but then, since i "dragged" kok in this bike rally in the first place to accompany me, and somehow ys unexpectedly got dragged in too with me somehow, i decided to stay and go with them. By now, they knew they overestimated their own fitness and knew it was NOT going to be easy later on. Haha, LOOKS i am the one going to "babysit" them. hahaah! And what comes after next is our love-hate relationship travelling together, 又爱又恨!

The Mandai road stretch. Everyone was in high spirits, especially us, since we stayed near there and able to see our homes.. But we also cursed and swear because of the various high slopes. One thing i loved about cycling is the ability to control the steering handle and control MY OWN direction. Just like what i wanted to do. my freedom to choose. It gave me that gd sense of feeling. :) Further more, i liked the 快速感 when travelling downslope, the feeling of slicing thru the air, as if nothing can hinders me. no obstacles! haha. Along the way, there is this situation where we went the wrong way and into the mandai zoo, led by the blur red safety cyclist. Well, we managed to "stopped" and divert our course in time but those that had already went deep inside... cant be helped. A wasted trip. Arrived at the yishun stadium checkpoint and we were surprised they still there waiting for us. (wonder how long they been waiting... feel quite bad. That is if they really thinking of waiting for us that is. haha. E111 doesnt sounds convincing to me leh when she said they really waiting for us. haha ) By then, looking at kok and ys situation, and the plight they are in, i know i cannot expect wj and the rest to wait for us at next few checkpoints anymore. They will just get delayed more and more. How sad. It would be fun if we are able to travel together actually. :(

Tensions already started to rise after the yishun stadium checkpoint. The riding distance between the 3 of us is getting obviously bigger and bigger. I and kok will always at the front and middle end and ys lagging far behind. We had to stop and wait every now and then. Really, i dun mind that but when it becomes repetitive, it gets annoying and frustrating. Further more, the weather is becoming unbearing HOT. It just makes my temper flare faster and my mood even more moodier. And one thing about kok, he wont sprint away and wait ONLY for us at the check points but wait for EVERYONE of us very 10 mins or so. Yes, He is this kind of friend and thats precisely why i jioed him to join me in the first place. Assuming we travelled together with rsphi gang, and i cant catch up with them at the last few parts of the journey, AT LEAST i know kok will stay behind and accompany me. Not say i doubt the rest, but i know way too well how good is everyone's fitness and how fast they can cycle, especially from last year's bike rally. Most likely they will just wait for me at next checkpoint. Not wrong, but it just feels damn sad and lonely to travel alone. (reminds me how i felt when i was travelling alone in the heavy rain last year...) And ys...i never expected him to join and as a result, my plan got changed somehow. :)

The next few parts of the journey, we dont talked much. The number of rests we took in between each checkpoints are getting ridiculously even more and more. Not that we cant take rests or what, just that we know very well, for every rest we took, it will only torture us further in this super hot weather. The heat is already getting on our nerves that if we speak anything, confirm it wont be something nice and good. Then came the decisive moment. One of the committee spotted us when we were resting and informed us that we are the last few riders already. If we continue at this pace, we wont be able to make it by sunset. After much hesitation, ys decided to board the transport and wait for us at next checpoint while we continue to cycle. (no way am i going to give up here!) And HELL it was. The next checkpoint is damn super far than normal. And the heat is making us so thirsty that we ran out of water. To make matters worse, kok looks like he was going to "collapse" and "faint" soon if we still cant find any water to drink soon. Luckily, he got bring money along. And luckily, saw an ice cream man selling drinks. (maybe that save his life?? haha) On top of that, not to mention his frequent cramps that keep occuring. Nothing goes smooth hor?

At the last checkpoint, we are too tired and lazy to set off that we are forced to move out with an escort of one of the committe members behind us. (what an honour...haha) By then, the last checkpoint is already left less than 10 pple, including us. The journey later taught us NEVER to believe what the committe members said. They said its only a short distance to the final meeting point. That "short distance" includes 8km of straight road AND cycling from one end to the other end of ECP. Damn. That is about an hour of continous cycling! Now, Ys was so full of energy and got ahead of us, after all, he skipped one checkpoint and still managed to get some sleep on the bus ma. Not like me and kok, that we were so shagged that we just wished to give up. But the "fierce looking" comm member escort just behind us makes us think otherwise. Haha. Along the way, my mind is totally blank and entered a trance like state. Thought about a lot of things. But no conclusion. :( When we reached ECP, its already sunset and looking at the time, we already cycled more than 12 hours! Oh great. But at least we completed it. :D Oh yeah, while returning our bikes, we were informed that we are actually the last 14 riders left. hahaa. Must be a new record liao.

At the dinner together with the rest, can only see the shagged faces of everyone of rsphians. But something seemed abit weird. As if something or some incident happened to them before that? Hmm, never go ask though. When everyone had left, kok and ys finally showed their true faces. They gave their shaggiest look and posture they can(with everyone gone) while expressing and complaining about their unhappiness about the bike rally, journey, heat, checkpoints everything. And like how they were so embarrased to "lose" to a bunch of juniors and feel so "pai seh" that they cant even outride the girls. Lol. You should have looked at them, it was so funny!! Never in my 12 years of knowing kok, that i saw him so 狼狈! Its true though that they overestimated themselves and came mentally unprepared. haha! Those scenes are enough to make me forget all the unhappiness that happened earlier today. :)

this blog post is written in a half trance like mode, with a sleepy mind of no sleep for the past 24 hours and with a shagged and sunburnt body. May sounds emotional but dont take it to heart. no offense. See it and forget it! So to those riders with us today, or whoever read it, dun go ard spreading and confronting it too. Its just my thoughts at that time.

Happy Lunar New Year~

Almost the same every year, but this time small uncle's whole family coming over to visit! Its rare, cause seldom we got visitors to our home. (my dad likes to refer those who came over to stay as 大人物) haha. And they brought their two kids along. First time seeing them, my cousins, only a few years old. Coincidentally, one of them has the EXACT same name as one of my friends. (i wonder if anyone else in the world got the same surname and name as me . .. ? ) Its the first time the house is so lively, full of crying and laughter from my infant cousins and so noisely that i cant sleep at night and get woken up early by their wailing. haha. Gave a lot of my "old childhood" toys to them too. :) One thing worry me though, that is the jealousy between the cousin brothers, quite obvious. Normally the younger one will gets the "More" attention...well, if u know what i mean. Its something unavoidable.. and hopefully grow out of it in the future. (i know... and i feel how he feels. cause i am an elder brother myself too. hah!) =)

To all my dearest friends, especially those graduating this year with me:

Attended the Koei talk just now. One of my top choices. At the start, let us watch half an hour full of game trailers. Feel as though they are selling games here instead of recruiting pple. haha. Turned out quite what i expected it to be. The requirements. The job scope. The working environment. I Want! But... The most unexpected thing is that we had to go through 5 rounds of interviews!!! Oh man...how to "survive" that sia... On top of that, when we heard the number of people they are recruiting, there is a mini uproar. lol. (we are fighting with prc and india scholars here somemore...zzz. Just wondering, SINCE WHEN Indians are interested in asian historical games anyway???!!! Hmph!)
And the lucky draws....i want that figurines and posters.......... :'( Aww.... so tempting...

My sixth blood donation.

Really kind of last minute decided to go. BUT...met wj and hc there too! What a coincidence! hehee. (At least i wont be donating alone...haha
.) Its not like i love to donate blood, but just that when u are talking abt helping or saving people, i think its the best way to do it. Rather than being a nurse or doctor or a priest or spend hours doing voluntary work. Its more practical and easier to me. :)

A quick routine checkup. More high tech now, use handheld device to test for haemoglobin level instead of the solution method. And many more questions ask
ed too this time, because of the overseas trip to Laos. Think my blood is more "valuable" now, got typhoid and influenza antibiotics inside lei. haha. Oh yeah, i wish that damn weighing machine is spoilt too... :P

But then donating blood is quite boring, unless u enjoy seeing the needle poking into u and watching ur deoxygenated blood flows out into a blood bag. (At this point, u will start to wonder how many billions of red blood cells u had lost as each second went by... and how long u think will take to replenish all that) Frankly speaking, the more i stare at my blood, the more scary i feel. haha. And i like the gift this time, a collar pin that wrote:"Are you my Blood Type?" :)

Sorry to hc too, think we should take more notice of u since u r a first timer. Feel a bit guilty for the accident. :( But hey... i admire ur courage for DARING to donate for the first time! *clap!* :D
