The Other Side of the Moon- 4 Things to learn

Been rushing my lab reports lately, I got 2 reports due, 1 after another. And time seems always not enough. And then with the farrago stuff, i start to get a bit stressed out. Well, always take a short time for a break... =) My lecturer always loved to share some good stories or jokes in lectures and here is one of them. It is shown originally in a PowerPoint Presentation with nice pictures, but the text and moral is more interesting.

The Other Side of the Moon- 4 Things to learn
A young lady was waiting for her flight in the boarding room of a big airport.

As she had to wait for hours, she decided to buy a book and to spend her time. She bought,a packet of cookies too.

She sat down on a armchair, in the VIP room of the airport, to rest and read in peace.

Beside the armchair where the packet of cookies were kept,a man sat down, opened his magazine and started reading.

When she ate the first cookie, the man took one also. She felt infuriated but didn’t say anything. She just thought: “What a nerve! If I was in the mood I would punch his eye so that he does not forget this daring!”

To each cookie she ate, the man ate another one. That was letting her fume up with rage but she couldn’t react.

When only one cookie remained, she thought: “ah… What will this abused man do now?”

Then, the man, divided the last cookie through the middle, giving her the other half.

Ah! That was too much! She was too angry! Then, she caught her book, caught her things and headed to the boarding place.

When she sat down on her seat, inside the plane, she looked into her purse to take her eyeglasses, and, for her surprise, her packet of cookies was there, untouched, closed!

She felt so ashamed!! She realized that she was the wrong one… She had forgotten that her cookies were kept in her purse.

The man divided his cookies with her, without feeling infuriated, nervous or mad…
…while she was very mad, thinking that he was dividing her cookies .And there was no more time to explain herself… Nor to apologize!”

There are 4 things that u can’t recover…
The stone……after shot!
The word……after pronounced!
The occasion…… after lost!
The time……after gone!

mini gathering...

Its been a long time since my coursemates and i get together since school started. Everyone got different timetables, thanks to STARS ar...=.= But everyone finally managed to meet together on monday for dinner. Haha, everyone ended lessons very late that day, especially me, who need to finish the lab experiment for my report. And out of all food choices, we chose to eat buffet instead at sakae sushi in ntu. Why i say that? Well, they reached there at 5 plus and last order was on 5.30pm. I even worse, i reached there at 5.20pm, ordered everything i cound think of and "think" can finish. Haha. Typical singaporeans, we ordered so many stuff, ended up we cant finish all. =.= And then there was this rule that uneaten food had to pay back. think we got like a few plates of sushi left, but everyone was very full le. So how? Haha, in the end, we played bridge and the loser pair will finish the rest! Lol. When yf heard this, he said:" I rather pay than force myself to eat..."(well, he was in the loser pair, and so is me. Totally no chemistry between us sia...like that also can lose...:( ) However, everyone helped him to eat and finish all. HAha. =)

For the next few days is the DCCL workshop for the juniors. Everything seems so familiar, freddie as instructor, jimmy there also, and even the slides and the way it is conducted. Almost like the same as we had last year. Haha. Well, its only the "start" for them... ;)

Jokes...by my EE3002 lecturer...

DISCIPLINE!

It was freshers day at an university. The principal said "In our university, we are very strict and follow discipline. The boys and girls hostel are separate. SO If we find any boy entering the girls hostel, a fine of 100 dollars will be levied first time. If he is caught second time 200 dollars will be charged. Third time 500 dollars will be charged"Immediately a boy sitting in the last row raised his hand and asked " What is the rate for the season pass ?!"

ANNOYING KID ON BUS!

A little kid walks into a city bus and sits right behind the driver and starts yelling, ''If my dad was a bull and my mom a cow, I'd be a little bull.''The driver starts getting mad at the noisy kid, who continues with, ''If my dad was an elephant and my mom a girl elephant, I would be a little elephant.''The kid goes on with several animals until the bus driver gets angry and yells at the kid, ''What if your dad was a drunk and your mom was a prostitute?!''The kid smiles and says, ''I would be a bus driver!''

Lastly..the one that i liked best of the day... :)

AN ENGINEER AND A PROGRAMMER!

A programmer and an engineer are sitting next to each other on a long flight from Los Angeles to New York. The programmer leans over to the engineer and asks if he would like to play a fun game.
The engineer just wants to take a nap, so he politely declines and rolls over to the window to catch a few winks.
The programmer persists and explains that the game is real easy and is a lot of fun. He explains "I ask you a question, and if you don't know the answer, you pay me $5. Then you ask me a question, and if I don't know the answer, I'll pay you $5."
Again, the engineer politely declines and tries to get to sleep. The programmer, now somewhat agitated, says, "OK, if you don't know the answer you pay me $5, and if I don't know the answer, I'll pay you $100!"
This catches the engineer's attention, and he sees no end to this torment unless he plays, so he agrees to the game.
The programmer asks the first question. "What's the distance from the earth to the moon?" The engineer doesn't say a word, but reaches into his wallet, pulls out a five dollar bill and hands it to the programmer.
Now, it's the engineer's turn. He asks the programmer "What goes up a hill with three legs, and comes down on four?"
The programmer looks up at him with a puzzled look. He takes out his laptop computer and searches all of his references. He taps into the Airphone with his modem and searches the net and the Library of Congress. Frustrated, he sends e-mail to his co-workers--all to no avail.
After about an hour, he wakes the Engineer and hands him $100. The engineer politely takes the $100 and turns away to try to get back to sleep.
The programmer, more than a little miffed, shakes the engineer and asks "Well, so what's the answer?"
Without a word, the engineer reaches into his wallet, hands the programmer $5, and turns away to get back to sleep.

Post COR 08 chalet...

Todae was the post COR chalet at aloha loyang! I met zq, Eil and hy to go there together. haha, i dunno how to go there but have someone to bring me there. :P From zq, knew that she and hwee got into COR main comm as pnp and biz mag. Congratz!~ Similarly, from that piece of news, it also meant that i did not get into COR 09 main comm. A bit disappointed but alright ba :) Heard that some of the new main comm are actually ex main comm(internal shuffling of positions) and many new faces(freshies!). Seems that they dun wish to get too many HIs into the comm this time. Huh...if thats the case, if i wanna join COR as participant next year, will it be harder for me too? :(

When we reach pasir ris, we intend to catch the "hourly" shuttle bus, which we managed to board in just the nick of time! And guess who we saw? Ronald and jolene! HAha, dear dear Ronald, its been a long time, buddy!!! :D:D:D I mentioned abt the new COR main comm to him and he also seems a bit sad that i did not get in. Thanks for the consolation pal! And jolene! WE only just met and she already keep telling me that she wanna join photographi08... ask me to let her join etc..(well, ask u to sign up earlier...u dun want, keep hesitating...) =.= And we also saw sh and amanda too. They also got "inspired" and went for COR interview too. heh. Sh went for farrago interview but did not get in... :(

When we reached, not many had arrived yet except for some of the organisers. Many arrive later. Xy and E were already there after the recce for the FOC. And there is Issac and Nicole, who already reached. Both of them seems busy with their designing work using laptop.(cant u all just relax a bit? =.=) While waiting and eating, all of us watched the table tennis womens singles match where Singapore versus China for bronze medal. Everyone seems so excited but unfortunately singapore lost. :( And throughout the night, almost everyone arrived. Saw many many many familiar faces! All the HIs and the volunteers too!~ HAha, bat family! Everyone WAS present there except a few who decided not to come at the last minute.(u know who) haha. Great gathering! Bat Alex and CMY also gave each of us a sounvenir that they made. Chao Wei presented us with the 2 DVDs of videos and pictures that we took during COR. And yup...most of the volunteers did not stay overnight but some of the HIs are... (hope they get enough sleep, next day still got photographi leh...). Well, post COR chalet a success! Dear COR pals and buddies, "HOPE" to see u all again for next year COR. :)

*haha, chao wei keep saying that there are a lot of "thunderstorms" inside the chalet. What else? of course all the constant clicking of camera flashes everywhere! especially, Aloysius, HIS was virtually non stop...*

*My masterpiece! Looks very "ghostly" right? :D haha, its playful aloysius who ran past in front of me*

* Dear kelvin...trying to "fight" with me who can take the picture faster right?" :P*
* Sounvenirs made by BAt "DAd Alex" and BAt "Nanny CMY", thanks :) *

Just take care of my eyes, dear...

There was a blind girl who hated herself because of her blindness. Not only did she hate herself but she hated everyone else,Except her loving boyfriend. He was always there for her.She said that if she could only see the world,She would marry her boyfriend. One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her,And then she could see everything,Including her boyfriend. Her boyfriend asked her,"Now that you can see the world, will you marry me?"The girl was shocked when she saw that her boyfriend was blind, too,And refused to marry him.Her boyfriend walked away in tears,And later wrote a letter to her that simply said,"Just take care of my eyes, Dear."

Reminds me of a korean song and MTV: "Kiss: Because i am a girl". The story is so alike.

whahahaha!

I managed to get my TCM(traditional chinese medicine) elective after 1 week plus of endless and discouraged camping! And whats so LUCKY is that i got it at the last 10 mins just before 10pm on sunday! Lucky~ Haha! Yup yup...now my time table a bit too much overload le...

Today is also the RSPHI interview and others too. I did not go today but i learnt that wen jie and shi hui actually confirmed going to RSPHI and they joined farrago! Really really really a surprise, cause i thought they will choose kallang. As for kok siong , he chose ODAC and FOC i think... Vanessa i not sure...0.0 HAha, hope they can get in smoothly~ :D

Now theres another personal dilemna too... Still considering whether should i try for COR main comm... With over 100 plus people expressing interest in it during wsc fair, how high are my chances?
And then still got GIP that i had applied...also dunno will i get in or not? Sigh, i can ONLY choose one and I hope to get AT LEAST one. hmm. ...

welcome tea...

Been busy with rsphi welcome tea songsign practices. Not really exactly busy though , since i missed a couple of sessions. OR rather i only came for a couple of sessions. HAha. But i still glad to be at the welcome tea. Kira group actually came for the welcome tea!~ Saw shi hui, wen jie, vanessa and kok siong. They informed me already that they would be coming , so while we were waiting for our turn to perform, i tried to look around but cant find them... And omg...guess where are they sitting? I din even noticed them until we finished performing songsigning "Accidentally in Love". They were actually actually sitting right in front of me!!! THE same spot where i was standing and signing! oh my! HAha, what a surprise!~ After everything ended, we gathered and met in front of the Lt with ah hui. Seems like they really ARE interested in joining RSPHI...good thing, cause i think they are really nice and enthu people. :) How funny, when i first asked them what RSP they are interested in the wsc camp, they said other RSPs other than HI. But now...they sort of get influenced by us, cause majority of our group seniors are from RSPHI ma. haha. However, they had not decided to join which centre and... may join more than one wing.... Either way, i really hope they can get in... =)

After that, we decided to eat together at cant 2. But it seems that the stalls are already closed. So we decided on ah fang instead. Glad, hui and SIA cant join us for dinner cause of comm meeting. Yuqi also cant joined us, she got supper with her VH friends. That left only me...the only senior with them. So left me to lead them to ah fang! And uh well...erm... just as Yuqi had said, i had a poor sense of direction. Lousy navigator. I still remembered the shocked expression shi hui gave me when she saw me taking the ntu map out and look. "WHERE GOT YEAR 3 SENIOR STILL BRING A NTU MAP EVERYWHERE HE GOES DE?" she told me. Well, to be frank, i really forgot how to go to ah fang, only a very vague idea, cause long time never go there le...But luckily, kok siong remembered how to go. heng! Haha.

And so we chatted about more what rsphi is about while we ate porridge and roti prata at ah fang. ANd shi hui said she forgot to bring her handphone to school for this whole week while staying in hall, and she even lazy to go back home and take! She can actually can "survive" without a phone for 5 days! Haha, i wonder how many people can do that? Very surprise also to see eileen and yanting at ah fang later on too!~ Lucky they were there to eat supper too, cause we also dunno how to get back to boon lay mrt from there and take what bus. On the way back together, we wished wen jie happy belated birthday cause we just realised his birthday is just a week ago only. And shi hui, even "best"! Her birthday was only 1 day after wsc camp ended! All so secretive huh... and poor kok siong. His birthday is at late november where everyone is busy having exams. Haha, they said we may meet up again to celebrate his birthday... heh. Hopefully, they wont forget that by then...hehee ^_^

School Starts...

School had already started for a week plus...and now with the national day, its a long weekend! Yay!

This sem got quite a lot of heavy cores for me...and 4 differnet types of labs too! Wah, year 3 is really getting tougher... And somemore, besides one or 2 cores, i dont have anyone else to accompany me, yf, seb, hy, jh, cryssie etc... in my lectures. Well, everyone's timetable is so different. And getting elective this sem is such a PAIN! I never experienced so much trouble and hassle before. Normally, i just camped one or two days and i will get my desired electives, but its already been more than a week and i still cant get TCM. (morever, i heard TCM is SUPER HOT this sem...judging by the long queue of appeals for it during lecture ...) Maybe its also due to the changes that special sem needs $$$ now and everyone rushing to take elective during school term. Whatever the reason, it is causing me so much trouble... :( If worse come to worst, i dont take elective this sem ba...:( (may or may not be a gd idea..)

First week, no tuts, so we have plenty of free time and breaks in between. Haha, i and my friends spent one afternoon playing bridge in one of the tut rooms! It was so FUN~ :D Then we also discussed about going GIP for our IA next sem. Can clear our electives and nice overseas experience at the same time too~(minus the high expenses) Hmm, most prob we will apply first and if got selected and see how...

Spielberg, Iceberg, Carlsberg!

A Chinese walks into a bar in America late one night and he saw Steven Spielberg.
As he was a great fan of his movies, he rushes over to him, and asks for his autograph.
Instead, Spielberg gives him a slap and says, “You Chinese people bombed our Pearl harbor, get outta here!”
The astonished Chinese man replied, “It was not the Chinese who bombed your Pearl harbour, it was the Japanese”.
“Chinese, Japanese, Taiwanese, you’re all the same,” replied Spielberg.
In return, the Chinese gives Spielberg 10 slaps and says, “You sank the Titanic, my forefathers were on that ship.”
Shocked, Spielberg replies, “It was the iceberg that sank the ship, not me.”
The Chinese replies, “Iceberg, Spielberg, Carlsberg, you’re all the same.”

Confidence, trust and hope?

CONFIDENCE:

One day all villagers decided to pray for rain. On the day of prayer all people gathered and only one boy comes with umbrella. THATS CONFIDENCE.

TRUST:

Trust should be like feeling of a 1 year old baby, when you throw him in tha air, he laughs....because he know you will catch him... THATS TRUST.

HOPE:
Every night we go to bed, have no assurance to get up alive in the next morning but we still make plans for coming day...THATS HOPE.

So always have CONFIDENCE, TRUST others AND NEVER LOSE HOPE...

in malaysia...

Went to visit relatives in bukit mertajam. Took a plane to penang, and upon landing, we went to eat our long awaited penang laksa!~ especially father, gulped down 2 bowls at one go. :D We also ordered and ate a lot food like hokkien mee, 耗煎, char kuay teow, lor bak, curry mee, wan ton mee etc... (all penang style~) Yummy!~ And the food are relatively cheap~ Oh yeah, my cosuins all had driving licenses! They are the ones who drove us around. And they are 4, 6 years younger than me leh. Even my aunt says i should start learn driving soon. Oh great, pressure is on me again. =.=

Its been a long time we met up with each other and relatives, especially my "thoo" cousins. We had so much to catch up but it seems that as we grow older, somehow we seem to "distant" ourselves too. Imagine that we are so close when young but when grown up, hmm...things change somewhat. Hmm, is it normal? but then i sincerely think that some things wont change, like the childhood memories we share. :) And during that nite, we stayed up quite late and have a "cousins" mini gathering and chat till very late. haha. Glad to know that i am not forgotten after all. ^_^

The next day, we went to visit "婆婆" grave. Yeah....its beeen three years le. Still rememeber that fateful day. It was during my ns days when i learnt of the news and i actually cried in front of my commander when asking for leave to attend funeral. :(:(:( That day, that date, is even more ironical. Its my ORD date and my idol's birthday too but yet also her death anniversary. This year, is actually my first time visiting her grave... so sorry...对不起。。。婆婆。。。*cry*.
We also went to visit my great grandmother grave too. Its my first time and i was quite surprised to know that my great grandmother was actually an indian! My relatives all said i and my father and my 公公 all inherited her pointed and big nose. Hmm. So i had some indian blood in me. 0_0 And then there was also a statue of a dog near a grave. It was said that the loyal dog stayed near her owner's grave until it starved to death. How faithful and loyal indeed...

Father's craving for durians came again...and at a great extend. Father totally "wiped" out the whole stall of durians and we actually had a fruit fest for lunch during these two days. Durians, mangosteen, a kind of sticky fruit that looks like jackfruit, rambutans and others... Durians! An all time favourite of the "thoo" family. haha. :D

At the last evening we had seafood dinner together, everyone. All the relatives on my father's side are present. Even tina and her kids were there! As usual, the cute babies all get the attention. =.= HAha, its great to see her kids growing so healthy.... and playful. :D Not to mention, its also samantha's birthday too and we celebrated it with her. Black forest cake, delicious!~ (although i still prefer some cheese... :P )

Its only a short two days stay over but i am glad that we can really get together as a big whole family. :) Its not often that we meet together and we must treasure it. MAybe the next time we meet...it will be shen chuan wedding le... ^_^
